Membership
Membership categories reflect three levels of participation and commitment:

Participating Members are professionals who work directly or indirectly on the conservation of manatees, dugongs, and thier habitat through research, education, management, and advocacy. Our Participating Membership includes scientists, students, & managers; authors, artists, photographers & filmmakers; and individuals working for zoos, oceanariums, governmental and non-governmental agencies, and advocacy organizations around the world.  BENEFITS:  Participating members are eligible to serve on SI's Board of Directors, Scientific Advisory Council, and committees, to apply for grants and submit their projects to SI for endorsement.  Benefits also include participation in our international database and a subscription to the SIRENIAN LISTSERV. There is NO FEE for Participating Membership - the only cost is a brief paragraph describing your project!

Supporting Members are citizens of the world who share our passion for conservation of manatees, dugongs, and thier habitat around the world.  Many of our Participating Members are also Supporting Members. Supporting Members contribute to projects funded or endorsed by Sirenian International through tax deductible donations to Sirenian International.  BENEFITS:  Supporting members receive information about endangered manatee and dugong populations around the world via outreach efforts such as our SirenianVoice Newsletters, Mermaid Ambassadors, Internet Websites, and networking among volunteers who have participated in educational tourism.  Tax-deductible membership donations are affordable and on a sliding scale.

Contributing Members are donors who believe in the value of the projects endorsed by Sirenian International and who are in a position to garner significant support to our goals.  BENEFITS:  Contributing Members are individually acknowledged on our Website and brochures, and in our Annual Report.  They are invited to meet with project participants and/or to observe field activities.  Tax deductible contributions of $500 or more may be earmarked for specific projects.
